Alec Gettert

At about 9 years old, I had gotten a Nintendo DSi with a camera on the back, which was my introduction to “digital photography”. I captured a LOT of photos with that thing, of my cat, the blooms in our backyard, my parents, everything really. Cut to now, I have just finished up with schooling, and I have spent my recent years working on reconnecting to that feeling of seeing everything as beautiful through the lens of my younger self.

Most of my work is an exercise in trying to see the world through the eyes of little Alec, capturing the emotions I’m feeling in the moment or something that’s just plain cool looking. Photo walks through the city, creating things using old digital tools, or messing with creative software from my childhood. Art for me is a form of play.
